About Us
The First Coast Art Spot was the idea of a small group of artists who came together at the St. Johns Town Center Arts Festival in April of 2007. They shared a vision of a working group of artists who could inspire each other, learn from each other, encourage each other, and collaborate on various advertising programs and events.
By promoting the Art Spot, we are not only sharing and promoting our own artwork, but also the work of all the Art Spot members. Florida's First Coast is full of wonderful artists and fine craftsmen whose work we'd like to share!
Interested in becoming a member of the Art Spot? Membership is $35 a year and goes towards funding the website, advertising, special events, etc. All we ask is that your work be family friendly and of high quality. We'd prefer you have a web presense of some sort, but it is not required for membership.
If you think you'd be interested in having a web presense but don't have the time or the funds for a full-fledged website, we'd be happy to help you set up an Etsy site, giving you yet one more way to get the word out about your artwork. Setting up an Etsy site is incredibly easy, and the fees are minimal. Here's the Etsy site of one of our favorite artists, Renee Thompson, as an example. Rather have a custom site? The folks at Pappashop helped us design this site and they have a bevy of custom designers and even pre-designed templates for you to choose from. All Pappashop packages also come with a built-in shopping cart function, perfect for artists and craftsmen, and the majority of their clients are artists and craftsmen like you. There are some great local website designers available as well.
One thing to note...this site is not designed to compete with other sites that help to promote the work of artists and craftsmen; rather, it's meant to further them. The biggest lesson we've learned in creating art is that the hardest part isn't in the creation itself, but rather in the marketing of that creation. From that standpoint, the more avenues artists have to promote their work, the better chance they have of being successful! We hope you'll feel that way too!
