FAQ's

What are your membership fees? TOP

Membership to the First Coast Art Spot is $35 a year and may be paid by Paypal (just request an invoice!) or personal check.  Contact us for details.

What are my membership fees used for? TOP
Membership fees are used to cover the cost of website hosting and maintenance as well as advertising of the site via internet search engines and local advertising outlets.  We also hope to put on a "Summer Soiree" art show for Art Spot members at a local venue, so membership fees will also cover rental of that facility.

How was the First Coast Art Spot started? TOP

The First Coast Art Spot was the idea of a small group of artists who came together at the St. Johns Town Center Arts Festival in April of 2007.  They shared a vision of a working group of artists who could inspire each other, learn from each other, encourage each other, and collaborate on various advertising programs and events.

By promoting the Art Spot, we are not only sharing and promoting our own artwork, but also the work of all the Art Spot members.  Florida's First Coast is full of wonderful artists and fine craftsmen whose work we'd like to share!

So what is Etsy anyway? TOP
Etsyis THE place on the web for all things handmade.  It's like Ebay without the bidding process and concentrated solely on handmade arts and craft, from the finest of fine art to the quirkiest of irreverent craft.  Setting up an Etsy site is incredibly easy, and the fees are minimal.  Listing a piece in your Etsy store costs on .20.  Yes, that's only .20 per piece.  If a piece sells through your Etsy store, Etsy takes a small commission--only 3.5% of the sale.  It's a great additional outlet to get the word out about your artwork. For example, here's the Etsy site of one of my favorite artists, Renee Thompson.

What's the Blog for? TOP

Two-three times per month we feature one of our artists on the homepage. When the next feature goes up, the previous feature goes to the blog, so you can read more about all our featured artists there.  Occasionally we'll also post news about special events or topics on the blog as well.

Are you a First Coast Art Spot member and have an idea for the blog?  By all means, let us know

Who is the person behind the First Coast Art Spot? TOP
